Treated

Andy plays softball on Wednesday nights.  Games are at 615,715,815 or 915.  We try to make the 615 games and cheer on our very favorite player.  Snacks or dinner usually accompany us to help us through the hour.  Sometimes we get mcdonalds on the way, which is a very special treat in this house.  We did this before the last game and so when the kids suggested it yesterday, I said no.

Lucy, however, has been suggesting treating us to dinner there for a few weeks and was giddy with the idea of bringing it to the game.  She got $5 from her piggy bank and we started talking about what she could get with that...three sandwiches and a large fry to share.   Caleb got on board and they decided to get sandwiches for Andy and myself.  Lucy took a nap and fell asleep in about 30 seconds when I suggested this as good prepfor the game.  The excitement in the car was overwhelming, at least for my head.  In between some of the shrieking, we did talk about how it is nice to treat yourself with money you have saved but only once in a while.

Before the game, Andy was going to pass on a sandwich, but was won over when Caleb said, 'But, Dad, I bought you one.'  I dint think eating McDonald's has ever been so special.

It is somewhat hard to actually catch the game with four little companions. The kids all pack a mitt and ball to play catch at the game.  Nellie wanted nothing to do with my lap or the stroller.  Then there was walking around two fields first the bathroom.  We may have missed a few of Andy's at bats, but we did all see him hit his home run.  The highlight of three game for the kids, and for me, is when Andy is not on deck to bat and he comes out to play catch with the kids.
